the other side

 photo theotherside_zps0d922f77.jpg
I've been working on a school project the whole January and it's finally done. Today we're having an opening for our exhibition at a cafe and it's actually my first time to put up a photo on a exhibition. So yes, I'm definitely excited!

The project was to find a poem or lyrics and then photograph to it. These lyrics was actually not my first choice, but after I took this photo of my beautiful friend, I happened to listen to Bruno Mars song "The Other Side" and this part of the lyrics just hit me and I thought it would make a perfect combo with the photo. What do you guys think? :)

I wanted to share with you some of my photos taken with film. I've grown a big love for black & white film photography under this time at school. It's almost therapeutic for me to shoot on film, I don't know why exactly but there's just that special something with the old analog style.

So, how are you lovelies? Has the new year started well for you?
I know I've been that annoying blogger who disappears, comes back and promises more posts and disappears again. The truth is that I've been too lazy to take any photos unless it's for school projects. Sad, I know. But of course I could show my projects here too if you're interested?

Delicious apples, healthy lingonberries, peaceful forests and amazing sunsets in the city. Fall is nothing but beautiful. Between all the studying I really have to remind myself to stop and breath in the beauty of the nature to keep my mind fresh and I'm hoping you're doing the same! :)

We went on a day trip to Tallinn with our class this week. We were super lucky to have the most beautiful day and it felt like we would've traveled back to summer!
We only had five hours to spend in Tallinn, but we used our time very efficiently by eating well (I ate the most delicious cod fish I've ever had) and after that we took the tram to Kumu Art Museum to see Irving Penn's "Diverse Worlds" exhibition. It was totally worth a visit, I enjoyed his photos a lot!

The whole day was very inspirational and it was fun to see new sides of Tallinn that I hadn't seen before.

Went for a walk with my love this sunny (but chilly) Friday evening. Since I've been feeling a bit under the weather today, I wanted to treat myself with something yummy. So we stopped by Cafe Regatta for a cup of tea and a warm cinnamon bun... I don't think there's a better combination than this! Regatta is definitely the cutest outdoor cafe I know and it being by the sea makes it the perfect place to watch the sunset and that was exactly what we did.

one step closer

Summer is slowly coming to it's end and soon fall, with all the beautiful colors, will knock on our doors. Fall is usually full of changes and I'm glad to say that a change is waiting for me too.

I had a dream when I was 15. A dream to be a photographer. After three years of media-assistant studies, I was left standing with my dream which I slowly started to forget. I found it more interesting to build up an adult life than pursuing my dream. But to be honest, the biggest reason was that I was scared. So I chose the easy way, which ment working with something that wasn't for me and only made me unhappy.

Especially last year was mentally really though for me. I struggled with myself in every kind of way and felt like I would never get any further with my life. Everyday I was jealous of those who knew what they want or already did the amazing things they wanted to do. I was miserable and stuck and I didn't recognize myself anymore. In the end I got tired of myself being sad. On New Year's eve I promised myself that my goal for 2013 is simply to become happier. Even if my thoughts and mood didn't change over a night, I realized that my own happiness comes from myself and from no one else. It was a good start.

Days and months past by and I worked with my mind everyday. I collected cheesy quotes of happiness. I wrote down everything that brought joy to my life. I started to notice the beauty of simple things. But most important, I stopped listening to the negative people around me. This really worked for me and slowly I came back to the point where I could enjoy life again. But still, something was missing.

This summer I realized how many amazing people I have around me. They're rocking their own thing, but instead of being jealous, this time I got really inspired. Somewhere around here my long lost dream hit me with a bang. Suddenly I just knew what I had to do and the very same day I applied for a school. For the first time I listened to my heart instead of my head and I knew this was going to be my time.

After many years of being totally lost it feels big to say that I got in to a one year photography school that starts next week!
I'm really excited about this new journey and even if I don't have a clue where this path will take me, I'm positive that I will enjoy this path and work extra hard to achieve the best results. I could've done this years ago, but this feels like the perfect time because I'm more ready now than ever.

This became a little longer than I thought, but I wanted to share a piece of my story and my feelings. Maybe some of you can recognize these kind of feelings or are struggling with something similar right now. All I want to say is that, no matter how lost you are at the moment just don't forget to enjoy the beauty of the little things, because this life is full of them. The rest will follow at it's own time and when you want something bad enough it'll come to you in one way or another.

Follow your dreams, not your fears.

bikini H&M

I wish every Sunday would look like this. Last Sunday we got a ride with the boat to a beautiful island where we got to be all alone on the cliff. We spent some good hours there sunbathing, reading books and swimming. Okay, I'll admit that I thought the ocean was too cold, so I skipped the swimming part. But my other half swam like no other, haha. Now I'm counting days to my next vacation week, three days left...

photo huseby_zps153c6857.jpg From Copenhagen city with a few hours of train traveling we arrived to the lovely summerhouse in Sweden, were I stayed for four days. We couldn't have gotten luckier with the weather, it was full sunshine and around 25°C degrees every day. Our days looked pretty much like this; ate delicious cookings ala Fiona's mom, sunbathed and in the evenings we hung out at the cool jacuzzi. One day we even visited a little place called Huseby, where they had beautiful gardens and cute little bridges.
The extended weekend was the most perfect getaway if you ask me!

Today was a "got to go to the beach because it's too hot to do anything else" - kind of day. A box full of watermelon has become a must for me when I go to the beach. I don't know about you guys, but I get bored to only drink water so watermelon is a more yummy way to keep hydrated. What do you like to drink or eat when it's hot?

I've been busier than busy to take everything out of my vacation and so far I've had the best time.
Last week me and my dear friend spent a day in Copenhagen. We arrived there early in the morning so a chocolate croissant and a tea was needed. After we had enjoyed our breakfast we started our shopping round in the city. Didn't go crazy, but a few things got to come home with me. After shopping and walking around in the beautiful city it was time to go to the train station were our trip would continue. More of that later...

Free time is the best time. Started my vacation by going to our summerhouse, where I helped my mom wash the carpets and some other small things that needed to be fixed there. Even if we had a lot to do I made sure to stop every now and then to capture the beauty around me. When living in the middle of the city, I tend to forget that there's nothing more beautiful than nature. Full of colors, full of life!

I can't believe June is almost over, can someone please slow down the time?! I've had a lovely month and summer so far, but I'm expecting July to be even better since my vacation starts in a few weeks... seriously, I can't wait! Besides a few trips coming up, I haven't planned anything special for my vacation. I just want to be, take in everything summer has to offer and let the mind be relaxed. Much needed to say the least!

How has your summer been so far and what kind of plans do you have for your vacations?
